Is Online Forklift Certification Legit?

Yes, with one condition. OSHA does not approve or accredit any training provider, online or in person, so any company claiming to be “OSHA approved” is overstating it. What OSHA does require (29 CFR 1910.178(l)) is that certification include formal instruction, practical training, and an evaluation of the operator on the equipment.

The standard specifically lists “interactive computer learning” as an accepted form of formal instruction, which is why the classroom portion can legitimately be done online. The hands-on evaluation cannot be done online; your employer or a qualified trainer has to do it in person.

An online certification is legitimate when it covers the OSHA-required topics and is followed by that evaluation, and not legitimate if a site tells you a certificate alone makes you fully certified. US Forklift Certification has trained operators this way for 21 years, has certified more than 50,000 operators, holds a 4.8-star rating across more than 14,000 verified reviews, and was featured on USA Today.
