Start Certification — $58 →New Hampshire does not operate its own OSHA-approved State Plan. Private-sector workplaces across the Granite State fall under federal OSHA jurisdiction, administered locally by OSHA’s Concord Area Office. That means forklift operators in New Hampshire are governed by the federal Powered Industrial Trucks standard, 29 CFR 1910.178 — the same rule enforced nationwide — rather than by a separate state code.
Under 29 CFR 1910.178(l), an employer may not allow anyone to operate a powered industrial truck until that person has been trained and certified. OSHA requires three connected parts:
The employer must also keep a written record certifying each operator. OSHA requires that record to include the operator’s name, the date of training, the date of the evaluation, and the identity of the person who conducted the training and evaluation.
OSHA requires an evaluation of each operator at least once every three years. A refresher and re-evaluation are also triggered sooner if the operator is involved in an accident or near-miss, is observed operating unsafely, is assigned a different type of truck, or if conditions in the workplace change. Our certificate is valid for three years, matching the federal cycle, and is recognized across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Our $58 online OSHA forklift course takes about an hour, runs on any device, and satisfies the formal-instruction portion of the 29 CFR 1910.178 requirement. To be clear: an online course cannot complete the hands-on practical training or the in-person workplace evaluation — those must happen on site with your actual equipment. That is why we also offer an employer Train-and-Certify kit, giving supervisors the checklists and documentation tools to conduct the practical evaluation and finalize each operator’s certification record.
From the advanced-manufacturing and defense employers around Manchester and the Portsmouth Seacoast — including the many New Hampshire residents who work at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (located just across the river in Kittery, Maine) — to the tax-free distribution, warehousing, and retail hubs near Nashua and Salem and the food and beverage plants near Concord, forklift operators keep the Granite State moving. Start the formal training online today, then let your employer close out the hands-on evaluation.
