Get Certified Now — $58 →Anchorage operators fall under Alaska’s own OSHA-approved state plan. Forklift training is enforced by Alaska Occupational Safety and Health (AKOSH), part of the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, rather than by federal OSHA. AKOSH covers both private-sector employers and state and local government workplaces, and it adopts the federal powered industrial truck standard — so the rules mirror federal OSHA while being enforced at the state level across Anchorage.
What AKOSH requires of Anchorage forklift operators
In Alaska, an employer may only allow operators who have completed a proper training program to run a forklift. A complete certification has three parts:
The employer must keep a written record showing the operator’s name, the trainer’s name, and the dates of the training and the evaluation.
How often re-certification is required
Operators must be re-evaluated at least once every three years. Refresher training is required sooner if an operator is seen driving unsafely, is involved in an accident or near-miss, is assigned to a different type of forklift, or if conditions in the workplace change.
Where our online course fits in Anchorage
Our $58 online course delivers the OSHA-compliant formal-instruction portion AKOSH requires — the knowledge training and written test — completed in about an hour from any phone or computer. Because the state also requires a hands-on evaluation on the specific truck in your actual workplace, the employer completes that final step on site. Employers certifying a full crew can use our Train-and-Certify kit, which supplies the evaluation checklist and documentation to finish and record that step for every operator.
As Alaska’s freight and supply gateway — with the Port of Alaska, Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport’s cargo operations, and warehousing that supplies much of the state — Anchorage keeps certified forklift operators in steady demand.
