Start Certification — $58 →Texas does not operate its own OSHA-approved State Plan. Private-sector employers and forklift operators across the state fall under federal OSHA jurisdiction, which enforces the federal Powered Industrial Trucks standard, 29 CFR 1910.178. That means the training and certification rules for forklift operators in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or anywhere else in Texas are the same federal requirements applied nationwide.
Under 29 CFR 1910.178(l), no one may operate a powered industrial truck until the employer has trained and certified them. Certification has three parts that must all be completed:
The employer must keep a written record showing the operator’s name, the trainer’s name, and the dates of training and evaluation.
OSHA requires each operator to be re-evaluated at least once every three years. A refresher, plus a new evaluation, is required sooner if the operator is seen driving unsafely, is involved in an accident or near-miss, is assigned a different type of truck, or the workplace conditions change. Texas is also notable because it does not require most private employers to carry workers’ compensation insurance, which leaves uninsured “non-subscriber” employers open to injury lawsuits — a strong reason to keep operator certification current.
Our $58 online course, finished in about an hour from any phone or computer, delivers the formal-instruction portion of OSHA certification and issues a certificate valid for three years across the US, Canada and Mexico. Because OSHA requires hands-on training and a workplace evaluation on the actual truck, your employer must still complete that step — our Train-and-Certify kit gives Texas companies the forms and checklists to evaluate a whole crew in-house.
From Port Houston — the nation’s leader in foreign waterborne tonnage — to the distribution warehouses of Dallas–Fort Worth, the refineries around Port Arthur and Corpus Christi, and the border trade hubs of Laredo and El Paso, certified forklift operators are in constant demand across Texas.
